Our History

Our History:

In Waverly, AL, the late Allen and Mary Harris Shaw gave birth to 12 children. The third, Juvella Shaw born in 1892. In the same town, the late John and Adella Black Fielder gave birth to 8 children. The first, Hilda Fielder Shaw was born in 1902.

Juvella and Hilda had a 11 children: Flora, John Allen, Bernard, James, Irene, Mary Lois, Louvenia, Willie Lee, Emma, Edward, and Charlie (Mac) –  the elders and branches of our family tree.

The first family reunion took place on Thanksgiving day in 1969, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coleman of Waverly, Alabama. It was a great day. Family, loved ones and friends gathered together for fun, a good time and wonderful food. This was the year of the money tree, the tree was a token of love to our father (Juvella). The money on the tree came from his children, brothers, sisters, friends and other well wishers.

Since then, every two years we gather as one family from all over the southeastern, northeastern, and north central United States to fellowship with one another, to celebrate all the Lord has given us, and to renew our bond as one family.

Our Inspiration:

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

Psalm 133 (NIV)
